Everything You Need To Know About Making & Using A Link

With a few simple steps, you can confidently copy, paste, and identify links, making every click a gateway to knowledge and opportunities.

What is a Link?
A link (or hyperlink) is a clickable text, button, or image that takes you to another webpage, document, or online resource when you click on it. Links are often underlined and appear in blue, though they can also look like regular text or buttons depending on the website.
How to Identify a Link in Your Browser
  • Look for Underlined Text or Buttons: On most websites, links are underlined or a different color.
  • Hover Over the Link: When you move your mouse pointer over a link, the pointer will usually change to a hand icon.
  • Check the Address Bar: When you hover over a link, its destination (the URL or web address) will show at the bottom of your browser or in the address bar.
  • How to Copy and Paste a Link

    Copying the URL

    1. Locate the Address Bar: The address bar is at the top of your browser and displays the web address (URL) of the page you’re visiting.
    2. Click on the URL: Click inside the address bar to highlight the entire URL. (If it’s not highlighted, press Ctrl + A on Windows or Command + A on Mac to select it.)

      • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac) to copy.

    Pasting the URL

    1. Open Your Message or Email: Navigate to the text field where you want to paste the URL (e.g., an email or chat message).
    2. Paste the URL:
      • Right-Click Method: Right-click in the text field and select Paste.
      • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + V (Windows) or Command + V (Mac) to paste.

After pasting, double-check that the link is complete and doesn’t have extra spaces at the beginning or end!
